Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing, previously known as Metalsmith, is a trade skill and allows creation of metal items using an anvil. This includes weapons, armor, and tools. Once the minimum skill requirement to craft an item has been reached, a player can attempt to craft it. However, the probability of success will be dependent on the skill in blacksmithing, so the higher the player's blackmithing skill exceeds the minimum requirement, the more likely the craft will succeed.

When the player's blacksmithing skill exceeds the minimum requirement for crafting something by 25.1 the item becomes trivial to craft.

Bonus[ | ]

Weapons and Armors that are crafted will get a bonus.

Attack, Defense and Durability bonuses are randomly generated, weighted on both your craft skill and the resource used:

  • Maximum Attack bonus from crafting skill: 50%
  • Maximum Defense bonus from crafting skill: 3
  • Maximum Durability bonus from crafting skill: 50
  • Maximum attack bonus from resource: 0%
  • Maximum Defense bonus of: 3
  • Maximum Durability bonus from resource: 200

Crafted items[ | ]

The following items can be crafted. It is highly likely these items will change by launch.

Resources[ | ]

Ore can be acquired through mining.

Name Skill Materials Requires Recipe?
Iron 0 5 Iron Ore No
Copper 20 5 Copper Ore No
Gold 40 5 Gold Ore No
Cobalt 50 5 Cobalt Ore Yes
Obsidian 60 5 Obsidian Ore Yes
Note:

If a player's blacksmithing skill is 20 points above minimal skill to smelt ore, one will have a 100% chance to craft an ingot from the ore. However, unlike other crafting skills and stations, players will not see a "Trivial" mark. Akin to trivial crafting, players cannot gain more skill by smelting ore upon reaching this specified threshold. As an example, crafting Gold from Gold ore will not provide skill points once above 60.0

Full Guide

This guide will help you raise your crafting skill to 100.

  • If your skill is below 30.0 it's recommended that you purchase training from a NPC Trainer for 300 Gold, which will put your crafting skill to 30.0 and save you time and resources.
  • A general rule of thumb is to craft items which required skill is between 5.0 and 15.0 skill points below your current skill.
You're able to gain skill on any item which isn't Trivial to make, meaning you have 100% chance to craft the item. An item will start to get Trivial when your crafting skill is 25.1 points above the required skill level.
To save on resources, craft the cheapest item within this skill span.
  • During your crafting sessions you should at all times check available work orders, since these will grant you some resources, money and recipes.
They're also a great way to clear out your storage space from the abundance of crafted items you'll be getting.
  • Another suggestion is to craft whatever items you're able to sell to other players at a profit, compare how often you're able to craft the item and the cost of the resource to the worth of the item.
  • After Early Access v0.9.0, it is no longer possible to GM blacksmithing from only smelting ore, so those values have been added to the main table.
